Veranda and candles
What else would you do with your summer nights?

Without sounding like we’re about to put on a performance of Grease, we want to talk about your summer nights. You know how they are, balmy, starlit, and warm. Summer in the UK might only last a week, the nights are beautiful when they arrive.
So how are you going to enjoy the warm evenings this year? Tell me more, tell me more! One word: Veranda.

Treat yourself and your friends to an open-air meal

It’s always great to have barbeques in the summer, but let’s be honest, we all do that. Why can’t we posh it up a bit?

Rather than throwing your meat at an over-charcoaled grill and waiting for the fire brigade to arrive, why not invite some close friends over for a three-course meal. You can set a nice table, chill a good bottle of Rosé, and sit in the simmering summer air enjoying good company.

Having a read on the veranda

Nope, send them all home and read a book

Just because you have the space to entertain and delight the neighbours and your friends, doesn’t mean you have to. You have every right to keep that veranda to yourself and put your feet up.

Of course, nobody will blame you if you still chill the Rosé whilst you read the latest tome by Stephen King. Verandas, as well as being aesthetically pleasing, are built for comfort and enjoyment. There is no better way to spend a summer evening than relaxing with your feet in the warm starlight.

You could botanise the place

There’s something about the way herbs and plants smell in the summer evening that feels holistically cleansing.

Imagine having a few friends over to the smell of sage and jasmine as you sip cold drinks. Bring a bit of green life to your veranda by adding herb troughs, hanging baskets, and other fragrant plants. It’s great for your health, and a pleasant place to spend your summer nights.

It’s your veranda, of course you can camp on it

That’s the other thing about summer nights; they can be too warm. You might have thrown the duvet to the floor and been throwing yourself around your bed like a possessed squirrel. Bedrooms are usually plush rooms at the top of the house, so in summer they are unbearably warm. You know where won’t be unbearable? Your veranda.

You could have some light and comfortable furnishings out there. There’s nothing wrong with having a nice warm snooze on a clear summer night after a spot of stargazing.

So, you think a veranda is a good idea for summer then?

Let’s be honest. A veranda is good idea all year round. Not only does it give you a nice clean place to sit whenever you want it, but it also adds value to your house. If you are thinking about selling anytime in the next few years, a veranda is a great addition. It tells people that your garden is built for enjoyment.
